So, several weeks ago I went to the 9:30 club in DC to see needtobreathe in concert.

Yeah, that concert. I hadn’t been wowed by their music previously, but they are a kicky little band live. It made for a great night in a great city with great friends. (AND I drove through downtown DC to get there – YAY me!)
I was in an upbeat mood and put on their cd, the Outsiders. They have a song called Won’t Turn Back, in which the lyrics say:
“so tell me why I should run for cover,
at the sound of the coming thunder…
all I hear is the cry of my lover,
so take your shot.
I won’t turn back.”
For my picture of the week occasionally I’ll take a thought that has stuck with me and google it, to see what comes up. In googling the phrase “won’t turn back” I got the following insanity:

This is from a sight called “married to the sea” and was a bonus because it is full of subversive, funny witticisms (click the image to go to the site). This picture for me has nothing to do with not turning back, so in an effort to be serious, I re-searched it and got this from Flickr:

That sums up the sentiment nicely, or at least better than a bear holding hands with a woman. And I got to thinking, what price would I pay (not being shot would be nice), what/who is the lover I am running to, and what will I not turn back from?
I have a few off the cuff answers…
I won’t turn back from Jesus, friendships, love, grad school, life when it gets hard…
My lover could easily be those same things; Jesus, friends, love, grad school, life at its hardest…
But what is the price I would pay to keep those things? That’s a lot tougher…what I would sacrifice varies according to each item, and sadly my answers conflict with one another. That one I can’t answer on the fly.
So, what about you?
